Two Brazilian Doctoral Students Visit the Lab

The Aquatic Ecology Lab welcomed two doctoral students from Brazil.

 

Laísa Wociechoski Cavalheiro, a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Animal Ecology– Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, arrived to College Station on September 1 and will return to Brazil on January 15 next year.  Laísa is doing her dissertation research on the community ecology of stream fishes in the Rio Uruguay Basin in southern Brazil.

Sonia Huckembeck arrived to College Station on October 2 and will return home at the end of March next year.  Sonia is a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Freshwater Biology of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.  Her advisor is Dr. Alexandre Miranda Garcia, a longtime collaborator with our lab.  Sonia’s research is focused on the trophic ecology of frogs in coastal wetlands of southern Brazil.
