Two Brazilian Researchers Join the Lab for Professional Exchange

The Aquatic Ecology Lab is hosting two researchers from the Universidade Federal do Pará in Belem, Brazil.  Dr. Luicano Montag arrived in June and will spend a sabbatical year at Texas A&M.  During his visit, Dr. Montag will give seminars, collaborate on research on the community ecology of Amazonian stream fishes, and attend scientific conferences.  Dr. Montag’s doctoral student Tiago Begot also arrived in June and will spend several months with the lab.  Tiago’s research is focused on the influence of different land uses on patterns of taxonomic and functional diversity of stream fish in the eastern Amazon.  Visits of both scientists are funded by Brazil’s CAPES fellowship program.
